It is now a Zaxby's, I believe. That was kind of jarring surprise when I saw it.

I didn't go to Blacksburg at all from 2013-2020 - my daughter was born in 2012 and that meant going to football games became really difficult and no longer on the priority list. We finally went back to town this past Labor Day weekend and did a bunch of outdoors stuff, like hike to the Cascades. It was my daughter's first time visiting Blacksburg and "the mountains", and she had a good time. But I have to say, Blacksburg has changed so much since I was in college that it just didn't have the same feel to me anymore. The upper quad is basically completely different now - my dorm has been torn down, and the Burger King is gone. It felt like the two places I spent most of my freshman year had been erased, haha.

I'm sure this is how everyone feels when they go back to visit their alma mater later in life - nowhere stays the same, and college towns are no exception. But I left Blacksburg feeling a bit sad, as I came to grips with the fact that I'm just old now, and that the way I knew the town and campus to be is nothing more than a memory now.
